2020 Legal Update for North Carolina Nonprofits
Charitable nonprofits are required to comply with a wide array of federal and state laws and regulations. During this workshop for nonprofit staff and board members as well as attorneys, CPAs, and consultants, get answers and information on many common legal issues that affect nonprofits.
Part 1, (9:00 – 11:15 AM), will offer an hour-long crash course on key legal compliance issues for nonprofits. An hour of breakout sessions will go into more depth on specific topics in legal compliance.
During Part 2, (12:45 – 3:00 PM), another hour of breakout sessions will offer more chances to go in depth, followed by a one hour “Q-and-non-A” session where the presenters will discuss solutions to questions participants may have on legal compliance issues affecting nonprofits.
Tentative breakout topics include board fiduciary duties, state tax laws for nonprofits, employment law issues, liability issues as they pertain to COVID-19, and better nonprofit laws for North Carolina’s future.
Attorneys may earn 4 hours of CLE credit from the NC State Bar for attending (pending approval). CPAs may earn 4 hours of CPE credit from the NC State Board of CPA Examiners (pending approval).
