The session will delve into the concept of purpose-driven leadership and its relevance in the nonprofit sector, highlighting successful purpose-driven leaders and their practices. Participants will learn about the Boardsource’s Five Elements of Governance framework, which encompasses mission, roles and responsibilities, board composition, culture, and impact, and how to assess their own board’s effectiveness using this framework. Furthermore, the session will provide strategies for embracing DEI principles within board governance, sharing best practices and real-life examples to cultivate a board culture that values diverse perspectives and promotes inclusivity. Participants will also gain practical tools and techniques to align board governance with their organization’s mission and values, fostering effective communication, strategic planning, and purpose-driven change within their boards.
