Beyond the Buzzword: Making Data Work for Your Nonprofit Mission

Your nonprofits sit on a goldmine of information. It’s in your program results, in publicly available community-level statistics, and in the stories of the people you serve. But how do you turn that potential into power? For many organizations, the call to be “data-driven” feels overwhelming, requiring expensive tools and specialized skills you don’t have. This session is designed to change that.  Join us for a practical, hands-on workshop that demystifies the world of data for North Carolina nonprofits. We will provide a clear, accessible framework for using data to enhance your programs, strengthen your fundraising, and advocate for change. We’ll explore how to ask the right questions; where to find free, high-quality local data (including key sources for SDoHs); and how to weave data into compelling narratives that resonate with funders and policymakers.  This session is designed to fuel collective action. It moves beyond individual organizational metrics by teaching you to use shared public data: the same data your potential partners and funders are looking at. This creates a common language and an evidence-based foundation for strategic partnerships and unified advocacy. You will leave equipped to not only prove your own impact but to collaborate more effectively to create a better North Carolina for all.
