Kate works with BDO’s Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory team to help nonprofits strengthen their financial infrastructures and make more effective fiscal and management decisions. Previously, Kate served as the director of the Mission Sustainability Initiative at Forefront where she supported nonprofit organizations across Illinois in exploring mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic partnerships. She began her career in the arts and developed deep experience in nonprofit leadership as the executive director of Steep Theatre, an acclaimed ensemble theatre in Chicago. She has provided fractional and in-house financial management and bookkeeping services in multiple sectors and has served on several nonprofit boards, including the League of Chicago Theatres, the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, and the Bellefontaine Cultural Arts Commission. Kate has a master’s degree in arts management from Carnegie Mellon University and a BA from Reed College.
