Dr. Melvin J. Scales is a leadership strategist, executive coach, and co-founder of the Nonprofit Thrive Alliance. With 25+ years of experience in talent development, strategic planning, and nonprofit growth, he serves as EVP at Meridian Resources and Senior Advisor at Armstrong-McGuire. A Navy veteran and Winston-Salem native, Melvin has guided dozens of NC nonprofits through equity-centered strategy and transition. Known for his emotionally intelligent, faith-rooted approach, he helps leaders build sustainable, values-aligned organizations. He’s also a frequent speaker, board leader, and faculty member at Wake Forest University.
