Kate Shirah is the Executive Director of Fox Family Foundation based in Durham, North Carolina. She leads foundation operations aligned with the Foundation’s philanthropic vision and interests in greater Durham across arts and culture, education, health and human services. Kate previously served for ten years as the program director for John Rex Endowment, a private foundation based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her breadth of experience spans the philanthropic sector, local and state government, and higher education. A proud Tar Heel, Kate earned both her master’s in public health and her bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her commitment to community shapes her personal time as well. She currently serves on the Durham County Women’s Commission.
