Kenton Spencer serves as the Executive Director of DataWorks NC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit data intermediary based in Durham North Carolina, that bridges the gap between quantitative data and community stakeholders, aiding local initiatives in achieving equitable outcomes. Kenton also teaches Media Law at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, sharing his expertise with the next generation of communicators. He is a former U.S. Army military officer and worked previously as a hospitality financial executive with Hilton, Mandarin Oriental, and NY City Life Hotel Group and as a healthcare compliance analyst at UNC Health. He is also an Institute of Political Leadership Fellow (2011) and formally served as a city council member and airport commissioner for the City of Laurinburg and Laurinburg-Maxton Airport.
